Description
In 2008, AFL asked us to develop a name and visual identity for their new bi-annual magazine on labour news in Alberta called Union. This was their flagship publication and is used as a way of keeping their existing 200,000+ members informed of labour issues in Alberta. It’s polished and highly illustrated design acts as a stark contrast to the many labour publications that are inaccessable to the average reader who isn’t engrossed in labour politics. This makes the publication an excellent tool for introducing the average Albertan to labour issues. We have designed, illustrated and provided creation direction on all 8 issues they have produced. You can read or download all back issues on the AFL website.

In addition to creating the print publication, we also developed an online presence for the magazine on the AFL website. This allows users to comment and engage with each article within the magazine, and ensures that a searchable and Google-friendly version exists. Here is the landing page for the May 2011 issue.
